Janice Kay (Fiet) Smith, Age 79, of Cedar Rapids, IA, passed away at the Hiawatha Care Center on Thursday, August 27, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

A visitation will be held at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, from 4 to 7 PM. A funeral service will be held at the 1st Congregational Church of Christ, on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at 10:30 AM with Pastor Melanie Van Weeldlen, officiating. A private inurnment will be held at the West Union Cemetery at a later date.

Janice was born on April 28, 1947, in Waukon, IA. She was the daughter of the late Delbert and Dorothy (Siekmeier) Fiet. On September 9, 1967, Janice married the love of her life, Marvin Smith in Waukon, IA. She was a longtime member of 1st Congregational Church of Christ, where she served as a deaconess, loved sewing, and tending to her flower garden. 

Those left to cherish Janice’s memory is her husband, Marvin of Cedar Rapids, IA; her son, Joshua (Michelle) Smith, of Cedar Rapids, IA; her grandsons, Brogan and Kelsen Smith; her siblings, Lorrayne Rudish, of Marion, IA, Marie Johnston, of Cedar Rapids, IA, and David Fiet, of Rockford, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her sister, Barbara Shaffer.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to 1st Congregational Church of Christ.
