Memorial

Kathryn Violet Possehl, 91, of Marion, Iowa passed away Sunday, April 5, 2026. A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 17, 2026, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service starting at 11AM, with the service beginning at noon. Burial will follow the service and take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A luncheon will follow the graveside service at Cedar Memorial. 

Kathryn was born January 23, 1935, to Homer and Violet Beck in rural Guttenberg, Iowa. She married the love of her life, Raymond Possehl, on March 1, 1953, in Elkader, Iowa. Together, they opened a business, Iowa Rivot Tool, in Alburnett, IA. They also enjoyed their beautiful farms, running a cow/calf operation in Albia, while enjoying the beauty of their farm in Elkader with annual 4th of July picnics with friends and family. 

She enjoyed gardening, daily crossword puzzles, Hawkeye basketball, and cooking nice meals for her family. Dinner was always at 6:30, just in time for Wheel of Fortune.

Kathryn is survived by her children, Susan (Peter) Brooks, David (Linda) Possehl, and Diane Unertl; 8 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Gwen Kennedy, and brother Dennis Beck, and her husband of 66 years, Raymond Possehl.
