Shannon was born on December 22, 1977, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Douglas Farley Sr. of McGregor, Iowa, and Bernice “Barney” Farley of Cedar Rapids. He graduated with the Prairie High School Class of 1996 and later attended Kirkwood Community College. Shannon built his career as an IT Analyst at Nordstrom in Cedar Rapids.

Shannon’s greatest joy in life was being a father to his children, Max and Ava. He also cherished life’s simple pleasures—playing guitar, taking his dog Hawk to the park, keeping up with the news, and sharing easy conversations and laughter with family and friends. He will be remembered for his quick wit and sharp, often sarcastic sense of humor, which kept everyone around him smiling. A talented cook, he loved preparing meals to share with those he loved, and he had an uncanny ability to recall and share knowledge on countless topics, making him feel like a walking encyclopedia. His warmth, humor, and curiosity left a mark on everyone who knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Hyra Farley; his children, Max and Ava Farley, and their mother, Heather Dougherty; stepdaughter, Jade Bieber, all of Cedar Rapids; his brother, Kelly (Christine) Farley of Aurora, Illinois; his parents, Douglas Farley Sr. of McGregor, Iowa, and Bernice “Barney” Farley of Cedar Rapids; his mother-in-law, Clara Alfante of the Philippines; nephews, Douglas III and Brandon Farley; beloved pets Hawk, Mia, Pocket, and Silvey ; and many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

Shannon was preceded in death by his brother, Doug Farley Jr.; sister-in-law, Carles Farley; nephew, Noah Farley; and niece, Katie Farley.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
