He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, David L. Vick.

Jim was proud of his life-long electrical career and was a dedicated member of the IBEW 405 Electrical Union, out of Cedar Rapids. He cared deeply about his brothers and sisters of the IBEW. Jim often shared stories of his travels with his buddies.

Active in the Masonic Fraternity, he was honored as a 32nd degree Mason and served as Grand Master of the Marion Lodge Number 6. He was a member of the Scottish Rite and El Kahir Shriners.

Jim found joy in life’s simple pleasures—fishing, mowing his yard, and working on projects in his garage. He was a familiar face at the Eagles Club, the Spring House (back in the day), and Scott’s Restaurant. Above all, Jim treasured time spent with his family. His warmth, humor, and head strong nature will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Jim’s family would like to thank the hard-working and dedicated staff at Hiawatha Care Center for their devoted and loving care of Jim as a resident during the previous five years.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be directed to El Kahir Shriners or a charity of the donor's choice in Jim's memory.
