Memorial

Charles Robert Sorensen, 77, of Marion, died Wednesday January 17, 2024, in his home surrounded by his family.  A visitation will be held on Tuesday January 23, 2024, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4-7 p.m.  A private service will be held at a later date. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.  

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Mary, his daughter, Carrie Witter and husband Nicholas of Marion, Iowa. His sisters, Glenda Sorensen of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Barbara Byrd and husband Don of Matney, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Charles was born December 14, 1946, in Ft. Dodge, Iowa, the son of Glenn and Doris (Lindhart) Sorensen. He married Mary Rae Johnson on March 21, 1970, in Humbolt, Iowa.  He received a BA and an MBA from the University of Iowa.  Charles retired as a project manager from AEGON in Cedar Rapids. He was a combat veteran of the Vietnam War where he was awarded the bronze star.  Charles enjoyed traveling in his retirement. He also enjoyed all Iowa Hawkeye sports and events.
