Life reflection of Frederick Hanson
Frederick Rashad Hanson, forever known as “FreddyG”, son of Alma D. Hanson and Samuel E. Miller, was born on June 23, 1995, in Clinton, IA. He gracefully departed life with us in the flesh Sept 6th, 2023 at Mercy Hospital, surrounded by his mother and four brothers. Freddy was the youngest of Alma’s five sons. Dominique Williams, Divon Hanson, Jabaar Ellis, Jeremiah Ellis and then Freddy.

Freddy was diagnosed with diabetes type 1 at the age of 7 bravely. He fought long and hard with this illness. Freddy was in so much pain daily, one can only find peace in knowing he is no longer in pain, even though this loss bares a tremendous pain on the hearts of his loved ones. Freddy was a loving man, a staple of the community. Anyone could attest he always loving and giving to all that was in his presence. One could say life gave Freddy lemons but he certainly made the best lemonade. Even though he faced the challenges of diabetes, he never let it slow him down. Freddy started his lawn care service which was his passion since he was a little boy. Up until his health started to decline his business would thrive. With the support of the community, Freddy regained purpose while dealing with the pain of suffering of dialysis treatment. The #FightforFreddy campaign was strong throughout Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Through it all, Freddy kept laughter and humor in any room that he stepped in. At a height of 5’5 he captivated any social gathering as if he was a 7 foot man. Freddy was always hip to the latest fashion and often times becoming a trend setter himself. His love for shoes is something he shared with everyone who crossed his path and often times it has been known that he would give the shoes off his feet to someone in need or simply admired his stylish kicks.

Freddy Leaves behind his mother Alma D. Hanson and four brothers, Dominique W Williams, Divon T Hanson, Jabaar A Ellis, Jeremiah A Ellis His favorite cousin Markeitha R. Hanson. Close friends Raquel and Dylan Erlacher whom with he spent most of his days. To their son Oaklyn, he was known as uncle Freddy. He loved so dearly. Trae and Taren Finn were just like blood siblings to Freddy.

Frederick Hanson AKA FreddyG will forever be truly missed. He left a profound impression down here. Rest easy, loving soul.
