Jack Carstensen

Departed on Oct 9, 2023

Kelly and family I am so sorry for your loss. Prayers to your family.

Kelly, sorry for your loss. Praying for all of your family.

So sorry to hear of this loss. I still remember Jack walking into the St. Matt’s gym and so proud of his kids . He just always had a great glow when surrounded by his kids . Much love ! Carol Bader

I first met Jack 62 years ago when I was a young playmate of his son John. His calm demeanor stood out then, particularly in a house full of children. More than he was kind and friendly then and remained so throughout my experiences with his family. He and his wonderful wife, Pat, were such good friends with my parents for many, many years. Every time I saw him, he was the same calm presence and a smile on his face. He made people feel better being around him. The loss may be great because of how he impacted so many people but there is also so much to celebrate in a life well lived.

Farewell dear friend "honey Jack"; Can't begin to count the many good times we shared. Please know that you will be missed by all that you leave behind. But you will be joining many of your buddies that will greet you with open arms...Until we meet again, Much Love, Mary Kaliban

Great gratitude for the foundational work for our Catholic community. And admiration for a lifetime of service. Your reward in heaven includes eternity with your granddaughter, Kira. Kira is one of the heroes in my life, and it is an honor to provide comfort to the patriarch of her namesake family. May all the Angels, Saints, Holy men and Holy women welcome you into God’s eternal Grace. Kira will show you the ropes…she could do anything in life and beyond my imagination in heaven.

KELLY AND THE CARSTENSEN CLAN: WE EXTEND OUR CONDOLENCES TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY AT THE LOSS OF YOUR ROCK AND PATRIARCH. MAY YOUR MEMORIES BE FOND AND LONG LASTING. Patrick 'R75, John 'R76, J.C. 'R77, Margaret 'R78 (deceased) and Elizabeth 'R80

Dear Carstensen family, I’m sorry to hear of Jack’s passing. I have fond memories of him from my years at St Matthews and Regis . I’ll never forget him coaching our 8th grade St Matt’s girls basketball team. I am also sad to learn about Kris. I got to know her through her friendship with Laura and my friendship with Karlen. Thinking of you and sending prayers. Virg Loftus Staley

Just want to send my sympathy to you Pat and your entire family. Seems like we have known Jack and your family for years. Seems like we met so many nice people thru our children and yours. Sarah you seem to be the one that sticks into my mine with you attending things when our kids did. Jack was an easy going guy and I don't think that he ever got upset over anything. I know he will be missed by you all but some day you will all meet again. Blessings to all!

Dear Pat and Family, I am sending sincere condolences in your loss of Jack. He was a much appreciated leader and friend as the Belden Court Association Director and the Carstensen’s have been sorely missed since your move. Best Wishes to all as you move forward in a most difficult time. God Bless.

Dear Pat and family, I am so sorry for your loss. You and Jack were such great friends to my parents, it always made us happy knowing they had such support in Cedar Rapids when we were far away. Hoping the great memories you have of him will give you peace.
