Memorial
Anne Therese McCormick, 65, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed May 4, 2023, at the Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha, due to complications of cancer. A visitation will be held at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids, IA, Saturday, May 13, 2023, from 11am to 2 pm. A life celebration will be held afterwards at a family residence.
Anne was born April 3, 1958, at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids.
Anne graduated from Regis High School in Cedar Rapids in 1976 and went on to graduate from Hamilton Business college in Cedar Rapids.
Anne was a deeply loving wife, mother, and grandmother. In 1984 she married James Roy McCormick III of Cedar Rapids in Washington, UT. She had five children, Jeremy Colony (deceased), Daniel Colony (Iowa City), Andrew Colony (Cedar Rapids), Brianne Colony (deceased), and James Roy McCormick IV (Marion). She was a grandmother of six, Ariana McCormick, Greyden Colony, James Roy McCormick V, Shyah Colony, Audrey Colony, and Avi Colony.
She was preceded in death by her son, Jeremy Colony; her daughter, Brianne Colony; and her parents, Donald Foley and Bernice Walsh. Also, her beloved father-in-law, James Roy McCormick Jr.
Anne loved animals and wanted to be a veterinarian. She loved her Great Danes and Old English Mastiffs she had since 1990, as well as her cats and hedgehogs. Anne loved to travel and go for rides. She loved music, live music, movies, theatre, dancing, Taekwondo, the Hawkeyes, and especially gardening and everything Irish. She would watch “The Quiet Man” every St. Patrick’s Day.
Anne wore many hats; drywalling, delivering USA Today and the Penny Saver, waitressing at Marc’s Big Boy, receptionist for Crest Technologies, and the last 25 years of her life as Administrative Coordinator at Health Enterprises (Cedar Rapids) whom many there became a part of her family, she loved her coworkers very much & they loved her!
Anne was one of a kind. Never did I hear her complain. She was a fighter to the end and the strongest, kindest, most positive person I ever knew. She was my best friend and my strongest supporter in everything I did. I will miss her greatly for the rest of my life.
I want to say thank you to everyone for your prayers and thoughts to try to help Anne beat cancer, she surely appreciated all your love and support you have shown us.
Anne, I love you, and my world will never be the same without you.
