Sandi was born on Easter Sunday, March 28, 1948, in Charles City, Iowa, the daughter of Patrick and Phyllis Hinch. She attended school in Nashua, graduating with the Nashua High School Class of 1966. She was united in marriage to Stuart Strike on January 26, 1973, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Nashua, Iowa. To this union two children were born.
Sandi loved with her whole heart and her most loved days were spent with family and friends. She had a special way of connecting her favorite people and celebrating the simple blessings of life by being together. She especially loved her time with her four grandchildren dearly and was so very proud of each of them. Baking Christmas cookies was a cherished tradition for her and the family.
Together with Stu they celebrated 50 years of marriage. Highlights were vacations in Hawaii, traveling in Europe while Stu was working there, taking road trips and Sunday drives. They were also very involved in the parishes they raised their kids in by being a sponsor couple, teaching CCD classes, Eucharistic Ministers and Sandi was often found playing the organ at St Mary’s Church in Urbana. They also enjoyed athletic events and cheering on their favorite teams. From Iowa Hawkeye Football, watching the Minnesota Vikings play to supporting any family member at school activities and events.
Left to cherish her memory are Stu, her son: Brian (Michele) Strike; her daughter Jennifer (Jason) Smith; four grandchildren: Madison and Conner Strike; Celia and Ruby Smith; brothers Dan (Diana) Hinch and Doug (Beth) Hinch; sister Theresa (Jay) Majewski; sister-in-law Becky Hinch and many other beloved family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Dennis.
