Memorial

Arlene & John Yanecek, ages 81 & 75, of Cedar Rapids, IA, passed away on Saturday, February 11, 2023, due to complications of an automobile accident.

A visitation celebrating Arlene & John’s life will be held from 1:00-3:00 pm Sunday, February 19, 2023, at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Memorial services will follow at 3:00 pm. Inurnment will be held in the Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date. 

Survivors include their children, Cheryl (Leon) Fratzke of Cedar Rapids, Dawn (Joe) Lane-Kannenberg of Cedar Rapids, Arlene “Enne” (Mark) Worrall of Knoxville, IA, Mary Jo (Reid) Beebe-Netz of Cedar Rapids, Julie Lane of Cedar Rapids, Linda (Jason) Hunt of Cedar Rapids, John (Susan) Yanecek of Cedar Rapids, Ann Lane of Cedar Rapids and John (Kelli) Lane of Mt. Vernon; grandchildren, Tawnya (Adam), Tabetha (Shawn), Donald, (Jamie), Amanda (Corey), Noah (Stacy), Leah, Casey (Catie), Kylee, Bridgette (Ryan), Jacob (Brittany), Natalie (Matt), Charlie (Valerie), Joseph (Megan), Lauren (Zach), Anna, Logan (Evan), Lyndsey, Spencer (Victoria), Brock, Emma, Nathaniel (Allie), Alexander (Haillie), Lucas (Leah), Elijah, Alli, and Judd; great grandchildren, Jordan, Bryson, Joslyn, Vincent, Nolan, Thurston, Matthew, Skylar, Payton, Levi, Elliott, Steven, Lucy, Peyton, Henry, Evie, Harper, Charlee, Penelope, McKenzee, Grayson, Zayne, Delanie, Madeline, Rosemary; beloved pet Minnie.

Arlene’s surviving siblings include Cheri Stauffer, Tammie Seeser, and Mark Turner, all of Clinton, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Steve, Robert, Thomas, and Danny Turner; and granddaughter Leanne Lawrence.

John’s surviving sister is Debra (Lynn) Rogers of Cedar Rapids; Aunt,  Karen Beall of Cedar Rapids.  John was preceded in death by his daughter, Chaundra; a brother, Thomas; and his mother, Dorothy.

Arlene Joyce Turner was born October 1, 1941, in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Robert and Pearl (Huginnin) Turner. John Edward Yanecek was born May 27, 1947, in Chillicothe, MO the son of Clayton and Dorothy (Baker) Yanecek. On October 1, 1979, Arlene married John E. Yanecek in Oklahoma.  Arlene was a homemaker for many years and John worked as a machinist at Goss Graphics Systems for many years.

Arlene enjoyed playing bingo and large family get-togethers. John enjoyed bowling, horseshoes, pool, darts, and Corvettes.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
