Memorial

Susan L. Rajtora, 81, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Saturday, December 2, 2023. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday December 7, 2023, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories.  Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM until service.

Susan was born on October 13, 1942, to Paul and Lorraine Phillips in Cedar Rapids. Susan had three sisters growing up.  Pat was the oldest, then it was Susan and then Barb who they nicknamed “Bunny” due to her being so tiny, then the youngest sister Janette.  She married Joseph Franklin Rajtora on April 23rd, 1960.   

Survivors include her children; Jeffrey, Angela, James, and Jason, Grandchildren; Swayze, Cayce, Jenna and Jackson.  Also surviving is one great grandchild: Axel and many nieces and nephews.

Susan was an avid Hawkeye fan and she was able to gear up in Hawkeye clothing one last time recently.  She loved watching soap operas, she enjoyed Days of Our Lives which she watched with her mother and her sister Janette.  She also enjoyed games shows and kept her mind sharp with the daily puzzles in the Cedar Rapids Gazette.  She worked many years at Colonial Bakery until she retired from there in 1998.  After retirement, Susan worked at Bishops until her husband Joe passed in 1999 and Susan finally fully retired altogether a few years later.   Susan had a deep Christian belief and she and her sisters were all very knowledgeable about the readings in the Bible.
