Patrick “Pat” Fowler, 77, of Cedar Rapids, died of an extended illness on Saturday December 9, 2023. At a later date, a Private Celebration of Life service and Inurnment will be held at Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Adel, Iowa.

Patrick was born January 6, 1946, in Deadwood, South Dakota, the son of Earl and Gretchen (Budweiser) Fowler. He was united with Julie in April of 1992, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Pat was a graduate of Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids. He served during Vietnam in the Navy, with honorable discharge from 1962-1969.

Survivors include the love of his life for 31 years, Julie “Kruser” Fowler, and his children, Lori (Paul) Barnes and Zac (Nicole) Fowler, grandchildren; Steven, Matthew and Kevin Barnes, Dylan, Lincoln and Harper Fowler, his siblings, Mike (Connie) Fowler, Coleen Kint, Tim (Joyce) Fowler and Debbie (John) McCracken.

If you knew Pat, you know that he never met a stranger. Pat enjoyed playing cards, especially euchre, and was an experienced fisherman who loved spending time fishing. Pat was a “dedicated” Iowa Hawkeye Football fan. In his later years, Pat showed us his artistic talents by coloring beautiful pictures which he enjoyed sharing with family and friends, and many residents of care centers. He was a kind and gentle man who will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Pat and his family are truly appreciative of the excellent care and services he received at the Veterans Medical Hospital in Iowa City and the Rehabilitation Care Center of Lisbon.

In memory of Pat, memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children Research Hospital to help children with cancer. Memorials may be sent to St. Jude Research Hospital at 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
