Oh how beautiful Heaven must be!

Marilyn Kay Heth, 78, Cedar Rapids, IA passed away December 8, 2023, peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones.   A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, December 15, 2023, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel Stateroom. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 16 at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Entombment of cremains will follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. 

She was born March 18, 1945, in Decorah, IA. Her parents were Gustav and Irene Rogness. She was baptized and confirmed at the Ossian Lutheran Church.

Marilyn obtained a grade school education at the Ossian Public School.  When the schools consolidated, she graduated from South Winneshiek in 1963.  Following graduation, she came to Cedar Rapids and worked at Collins (Rockwell) keypunching. She then went back to Ossian and worked as a bookkeeper for Dr. C.R. Henry.

Marilyn married Harold Heth on November 28, 1964, at the Ossian Lutheran Church. They made their first home in West Union, IA and then moved to Cedar Rapids where they lived. They became parents to three children: Shelly, Lynn, and Josh. 

Marilyn had many interests including quilting, crafts, Girl Trips, going on cruises, Hawkeyes and loving her family and friends. Marilyn was a wonderful mother and MeMe. She will be deeply missed by her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Harold, of 59 years.  Also, by three children; Shelly Heth (Joe Cecchin) - Minooka, IL, Lynn Heth-Cedar Rapids, IA, and Josh Heth (Brenda) – Marion, IA; two grandsons; Tanner Bemer and Jacob Heth; one granddaughter; Anna Heth; two great-granddaughters; Arabella Bemer and Addalynn Johnson; a brother – Gary Rogness; a sister – Elaine Ishman; three sister-in-laws; Ginger Rogness, Helen Westphal and Brenda Heth; three brothers-in-law; Ron Ishman, Carl Heth & David Westphal; several nephews, nieces, cousins, and many close friends including Bob & Pam Miller, Jim & Dianna Welsch and Judy Hagge.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, in-laws, nephews Ryan Rogness and Kevin Ishman, aunts, uncles and cousins, including a special cousin, Sonja Streif and  two close friends, Sandy Mersch and John Hagge.

The family is grateful for the wonderful care from the entire team at St. Croix Hospice during Marilyn’s final days.
