Saniah R. Mickle, 16, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, chose to leave the world to fly with the angels on Sunday, August 13, 2023.  A Celebration of Life will be held from 12:00 to 5:00 PM on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at Jones Park in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  For additional details please follow Katherine Townsend on Facebook. Arrangements are entrusted to Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.

Saniah was born October 24, 2006, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the beloved daughter of Katherine Townsend and Reddick Mickle Jr.  Saniah was on track to graduate from Metro High School a year early.  She would have been a senior and was excited to get back to her friends and teachers.  Saniah taught herself how to play the guitar (electric and acoustic), she was also learning to play the drums.  Saniah was extremely creative. She would make her own clothing by taking specific items to add a “Saniah twist”.  Saniah also loved to draw, paint, sew, write her own music, and poems.

As private as Saniah was with her own mental health battle, she was a confidant to others with their battles.  She was selfless, kind, and powerful.  Saniah brought a warm glow with her into this world, and we are all so blessed to have had her leave her impression on our lives.

Surviving is her mother, Katherine (Christopher) Townsend of Cedar Rapids, IA; father, Reddick Mickle Jr- San Fransico, CA; stepmother, Rachel Madison of San Fransico, CA; three siblings, Caiden Jermaine Hobbs of Cedar Rapids, IA; Ricco Mickle of San Fransico, CA; and Nadia Mickle of Chicago, IL; grandparents, Carol and Simon Brook of Cedar Rapids, IA; and Reddick Mickle Sr. of Chicago, IL; aunts and uncles, Stacy and Scott Johnson, Amy and Jimmy White, Tami Pelley, Kelly and Jermaine Willis, Aisha Covington all of Cedar Rapids, IA and Brittney McGee, Chicago, IL; special friends, Maddox Davis, Bentley Bartlett, and Valerie Turner; her beloved pets, Pyro, Smore, Tank, and Truck; and many extended loving cousins, family members and friends.

As this may sound offensive to some that didn't truly know her...Saniah's hashtag was and forever will be "See You in Hell".  As a family we will be paying homage to that.  Her natural beauty, passion and love for music and art, her creative soul, positive vibes, and sense of humor will be missed by many.

Saniah’s sense of humor was dark at times and only a few understood.  Please respect the family as they celebrate her life in Pure Saniah Style.  Ask questions and please involve yourself in the family's journey as they find ways to share Saniah's Story.

In honor of Saniah the family encourages YOU to please talk about mental health. Talk about depression and suicide.  Mental Health Therapy is needed and deserved within our youth. They are struggling too!
