Dick is my uncle, my mom's eldest brother. Wow what an amazing guy. Over the years we had so many amazing discussions and adventures. Sadly I hadn't seen Dick in a long time and I feel immensely horrible about that. I plan to come to Cedar Rapids and celebrate his life with my family members. There is kind of a kinship guys have with their uncle. On one hand they can be cool and show you the stuff your parents will never show you. On the other hand they are accountable to their sibling, your parent, and know not to let you do something completely foolish, after all they are an adult and are often a parent themselves. So it's a good spot.

I'm so sorry to hear of Dick's passing. He was my art teacher for a couple watercolor classes. I ran into him a few years ago at the Marion Arts Festival, and I'm so glad I did! I loved his paintings and to this day I utilize watercolor techniques he showed the class. I enjoyed his positive disposition too! You all have my deepest condolences.

Mary Kay and family, I am very sorry to hear of Dick’s passing. I love seeing you both and always appreciated the warm greeting and chats we had at First Lutheran. Peace be with you!

I am sorry for your loss ,Mary Kay. Peace be with you??

Mary Kay, Fred and I will miss Dick with his soft voice but so talented in his watercolors. . He is at peace now watching over you.

Mary Kay and family. We are so sorry for your loss. Dick always had a smile on his face and we always bantered about who the boss was and who got the church bulletins. Peace be with you.

I met Dick when he donated artwork to the Child Advocate Brunch for Alternative Services. He was very kind and generous, and I enjoyed learning about and seeing his watercolor works, and hearing about his time at CMFNZ.

Mary Kay ..just read of Dicks passing..thoughts and prayers to you and all of Dicks family during this sad time and in the coming days..strength and peace to you all..in sympathy..Su Wolrab

It is so hard to lose our friend and church famiky member, Dick. His smile made you feel so special. We were all blessed to have him in our lives. I will treasure my memories of him always. May God give his family comfort and peace.

I am thinking of you today. I know how hard this is. I always felt better after seeing Dick. His positive outlook and smile were contagious. My sympathy to you and your family.

So sorry to read of Dick's passing. He was a fellow church member, bible study partner, coffee group member, and a similar fishing enthusiast. He could have been a poster candidate for displaying how to live life and adjust attitude while dealing with a critical illness, his positive responses to his affliction are not infrequently brought up by his friends. My several paintings of his are cherished. Sincere condolences to Mary Kay and Eric and family on your loss, the way Dick approached life will be remembered for a long time.

Mary Kay, I just read about Dick's passing. I am so sorry. You and your family have my sympathy. Sharon Forquer

Uncle Dick held a special place in my heart. I’ll never forget the time he took me and grandma Marge for an airplane ride over Saylorville Lake. Grandma was terrified and I was delighted when he did a couple of loops over the water. He also encouraged me to participate in my first art show and to teach art to children. I’m so sorry I will not be able to pay my respects in person, but I will be thinking of you all.

Mary Kay and Family, We are so saddened to see this news. Dick was such an inspiration to us, and we are grateful to have a couple of his paintings in our home. His motto certainly fit his kind and generous and uplifting spirit. Seeing him at Rock Valley Physical Therapy was always a treat. Our hearts are with you at this difficult time, hoping you can find peace and comfort in the warm spirit he so generously spread to all he touched.

Mary Kay and family, I am so heartbroken for you in your loss. Dick was such an exceptional person in many ways and your home was full of such warmth and love. He inspired us all with his enjoyment of life and his grateful attitude. His appreciation for beauty and his ability to create such lovely artwork were real gifts. You all have done such an amazing job of caring and supporting him in his long struggle with illness. May God’s peace and nearness comfort your hearts.and carry you through this difficult time.

I am so very sorry for your loss, Mary Kay. Dick was a gifted artist who managed his long illness with supreme grace. I’m sending loving, healing thoughts to you and all your family. ??

I stood beside this gentle man at St. Lukes baby viewing window in June 1970. Then met him when I joined the art department at cms&z August 3, 1970. I only recognized him by his cool watch. We made a great work connection for 30 years...through our babies! Also, Dick taught me how to make a scar on my face for Halloween with rubber cement. Thanks Dick, so kind. Soar on!!!

Your creativity showed me the world can be viewed in many shapes and colors. You were such a great Uncle. You were such an amazing soul and will forever be missed but will always be remembered in our hearts. Aunt Mary Kay I'm so sorry for your loss.
