Wade passed away this past Monday, August 7, 2023, at St. Luke’s Hospital, with his family at his side, from a sudden heart attack. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew him.
He was born in Oakland, CA to Ottis and Doris Albritton, he enjoyed school and continued classes in higher education for a good portion of his life. He was an avid reader and loved to share his Science Fiction reading and thoughts with everyone. He met his future wife (Maureen Holmes) while working in San Leandro, CA; they were married on Dec. 18, 1971. He and Maureen would be blessed with three wonderful children. Janelle (Brett) Thoms, Marion, IA, Scott (Laura Stever) Albritton Hillsboro, OR, and Courtney Albritton, Marion, IA. This family of five would move to several states, due to Wade’s employment as a Design Engineer. He traveled quite extensively, internationally due to his expertise in Gas Engineering. He was dedicated to being a thorough professional, he was skillful and creative, acquiring over twenty-five patents with employment with firms in many roles in his engineering profession. His mind was most productive and creative with partners that shared his depth for making a product more reliable and durable.
He leaves behind his older brother, Robert A Albritton of Dallas, OR; his in-laws Ross & Susan of Big Lake, MN, Katie (Rick) Holmes, Lakeview, WA, Roni Cope, Turlock, CA, Teri (Dave) Vandenbos, Brentwood, CA, and Valerie (Tim) Austin, Brentwood, CA; six loved grandchildren, CPL Austin Albritton, Ft Campell, KY, plus five Grandchildren living in Marion; Abigail, Hayden, Noah, and John Thoms, as well as Addilyn Albritton. And dozens of nieces and nephews scattered across our nation. He was well loved.
A Memorial Mass is planned for Thursday, August 10th at 11am at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Hiawatha, IA.
Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
