Frank Yanda, 85, of Marion, formerly of Cedar Rapids and Monticello passed away April 21, 2023. A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Frank was born on April 7, 1938, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Don and Martha (Coberly) Yanda. He graduated from Springville High School in 1956. Frank served his country in the United States Marine Corps Reserve. On December 7, 1956, he was united in marriage to Judy Orcutt at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Frank worked at Collins Radio during the Apollo missions and in sales at WMT Television and Radio. He was a co-owner of KGLO radio station in Mason City at one time. Frank also worked for Teleconnect (McLeod USA). After retiring, Frank and Judy moved to Arizona, eventually returning to Iowa. He had a passion for cars, motorcycles, and airplanes. Frank was skilled in target shooting and was a Life Member of the NRA.
Survivors include his wife of sixty-six years Judy of Marion, children Joel (Kari) Yanda of Olathe, KS, Jolene Miller of Monticello, Jay (Mary) Yanda of Monticello, and Jennifer (Tyrone) O’Neal of Marion, grandchildren Nicole Perez, Lindsey Tucker, and Steven Yanda, step-grandchildren Griffen Dance, and McKenzie Dance, great grandchildren Joshua Tucker, Andrea Tucker, Elizabeth Tucker, Gabriel Perez, and Elijah Perez, great-great granddaughter Aubrey Walden, and brother Leo (Sue) Yanda of Fort Smith, AR. Frank is also survived by his beloved dog Bailey.
Preceding him in death were his parents, daughters Julie and Darcy Yanda, and sister Bonnie Kathryn Yanda.
