Dorris Marie Manning Bell, 78, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa passed away October 9, 2022, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha, Iowa. A visitation will be held at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church on Monday, October 24, 2022, from 9:30 to 11:00 AM. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM following the visitation with burial taking place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

Dorris was born June 28, 1944, in Greenville, Mississippi to Melvin Thomas and Lue Creatia (Eakins) Manning. She attended Grant Elementary, Logan Junior High, and graduated from East High School, in Waterloo, Iowa. She moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa and attended Kirkwood Community College. Dorris Married Grover Bell Jr. February 14, 1978. She worked at Rockwell Collins retiring in 1999 after 33 years. She volunteered at Foundation II and the African American Museum of Iowa. Dorris was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church and Webb Alumni Club.

Left behind to cherish Dorris’ memories include her two sisters, Katherine H. Manning of St. Louis, Missouri, and Melissa V. Manning of Waterloo, Iowa, brother, Glenn (Michelle) Manning of Minnesota; God children, Cymaron Dawson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Staisha Federick of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Brittne Eliza of Minnesota; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Lue Creatia Manning; her husband, Grover Bell Jr; brothers, John Manning, Warren Manning, and Alfred Bell; daughters, Lue Creatia, Salena, and Kimberly Renee.
