Raymond J. Heyer, 90, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on November 22, 2022, at Terrace Glen Village surrounded by his family.

In agreement with Ray’s wishes, he was cremated and placed in a companion “Together Forever” urn to be kept by his wife until her passing.  The urn will be entombed in the Cedar Memorial Mausoleum at a later date with Military Honors.

Ray was born on August 31, 1932, in Manchester, Iowa.  He graduated from Manchester High School.  Ray served in the United States Army during the Korean War.

He was united in marriage to Sheryl L. Hageman on November 24, 1955.  Ray worked at Rockwell Goss until his retirement.

Ray was active in the Masons and the Order of Eastern Star for many years.  He enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening, playing card games and family vacations. His most memorable vacation was a Disney Cruise.

Ray is survived by his wife of 67 years, Sheryl Heyer of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; their son, Steven (Kathleen) Heyer of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; granddaughter, Meleah (Luke) Jones of Springville, Iowa; and great grandchildren, Lila, Landon, Leighton, and Lainey Jones all of Springville, Iowa.  Our “Ray of Sunshine” will touch us with his warmth and love from above.

The family would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to Timothy Sagers, MD, Mercy Hospice, Terrace Glen Village staff and residents for the care and support they provided to Ray.
