Memorial
Robert (Bob) Benjamin Wheeler, 85, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa passed away Friday, June 24, 2022. A visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 PM on Friday, July 1, 2022, at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. A funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM following the visitation. Burial will take place after the service.
Robert was born December 7, 1936, to Benjamin and Dorothea (Brinkman) Wheeler in Elgin North Dakota. After he graduated from high school, Bob enlisted into the U.S. Army. He then went to Jamestown College, where he received his bachelor’s degree. Bob worked in the insurance industry, where he met his future wife. He married Grace Oistad on June 29, 1968, in Strandquist, Minnesota. Bob went back to school and received his masters of hospital administration from Washington University in St. Louis. He worked as a hospital administrator at St. Luke’s for 27 years.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Grace; children, Kristin (Tim) Kiesey, Daniel Wheeler, and Rebecca (Tyler) Andersen; along with 10 grandchildren, and his brother Jim.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Don.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Care Initiatives Hospice or CountryHouse Residence.
