I want to extend my sincere condolences to the entire Galli family in Kay’s passing. I taught for several years with Kay and was extremely fortunate to call her a colleague and more importantly a friend. Even after I left teaching to pursue school administration I looked forward to seeing and visiting with Kay. Her impact on staff, parents and most importantly children was significant and for anyone who had the good fortune of knowing her, their life was certainly enhanced. Bill, as you know through our many conversations I thought very highly of Kay. Our family will be vacationing on the date of Kay’s service but please know I will have Kay and you in my thoughts.

We were fortunate to be able to work with Kay while she taught in the Program for Academic and Creative Talent. It was clearly obvious that the students she mentored were in loving and capable hands. We are thinking of you today. Hugs and prayers to you during this time. Jean Oberbroeckling/Leon Lueck

Kay was a delight to work with over the years in the gifted and talented program of the the Cedar Rapids School District--so caring for the students, so steadfast a member of our team, so quick to laugh. I will remember her with love and respect.

A few things I didn't get to say to you, Kay, before you had to leave us ahead of schedule. I was honored to be welcomed into your family, even your church family. I got to experience your joy for teaching when you taught the Parenting with Love & Logic course so we could raise Mazie & Maddie with character and respect for their unique gifts. Each book you picked out for kids & grandkids was the very best and personalized to each of their learning styles. You helped challenge them so they'd flourish. I teased you for the down-home things you'd say, like "How's come?" but found you to be a brilliant inspiration and a great example for all of us. I gave up trying to outwit you: almost never played cards/games around the table because we knew you'd beat us without mercy (Frances gave you that savage instinct). We'd give anything for another hand and the laughs that were part of it. We're making sure Bill knows he's loved and still has lots of family support. You taught us to appreciate beauty in so many forms, especially the music. Much love and respect. Thanks for gathering us, whether in Clear Lake or in our homes, making each family occasion special. You'll always be missed and remembered.

I am so sorry for the loss of Kay. She was such a bright light to everyone around her, including myself. Such a heart for giving, We talked a lot over the past several years and I heard all about her family, how proud she was of her children , grandchildren and great-grandchildren. I will miss her wit, her sense of humor (it was so plentiful), her friendship. She was honored to put together Joyful Noises each year and although it was much work she carefully chose the talent and she did such an amazing job. I am very glad that I did get to visit her, and Bill, a couple times at the Manor and I am thankful I had that time with her before she went back into the hospital. She left so much to be proud of, she was so humble about all the good she did in the community, I will be out of town the weekend of the funeral but you will all be in my thoughts and prayers.
