Cherie. Wow. What to say? Where to begin? I met you and became your student when I was in 5th grade. I only danced at Cherie's for four years, but it was enough to build the foundation. I still remember my costumes and the songs I (and others) danced to for recitals, and think of "Cherie's" to this day when I hear those songs. Life went on and I moved away, came back to Iowa in the late '90s and reconnected with you. I then taught for you, and took my own classes as well... ever the student. Your marriage tip to me was to "dust the floorboards," which we would frequently laugh about. Early 2000s I moved out of Iowa again, but you would semi-regular call me by mistake when you were trying to reach your hairdresser to put that colored streak in your hair, as we shared the same first name. I was and am thankful you would make those misdials, as it gave us a chance to connect for a few minutes. Even before your passing, I have missed you. I will continue to do so, my friend. Thank you for all the memories and conversations, and teaching me the time steps I can still bust out today. Rest in peace.

Roger and Jill: I have fond memories of visiting your mom when she came visit you her smile was warm, she was so proud of you, Roger, and would tell me about your military job I could tell she had a strong passion for teaching dance! She was one of those people who left an impact on many kids and may never know how much she changed their lives. Her love for all her dogs was very intense and caring. I also recall how she liked when you and jill cooked some of her recipes for meals when she visited. I am very glad I did get to meet and visit with her. I know as time passes you will all miss her more. May some fun memories help you cope with her leaving this journey with you. Love from Roberta

Where do I begin? Cherie touched so many lives in a positive way. She was an amazing dance instructor who always produced exceptional recitals. She encouraged her students so they were able to achieve their best. She loved teaching dance and her students loved having her as a teacher. Her studio was welcoming and fun - just like her. Cherie was a successful business woman and thus a good role model for so many young girls. She had a generous and kind heart. At Christmas she often purchased many gifts for the residents of nursing homes. She had so much love to give and was quite proud of her son and his family, and she was a loving "dog mom." She always had a smile on her face and was able to rise above difficulties in life. She will not only be missed by many but remembered always. Cherie was the perfect dance instructor for my daughter and for that I am thankful. In addition, Cherie was my friend and for that I am also thankful. Blessings dear Cherie.

I just searched for Cherie and saw this obituary. Cherie was as beautiful a person as one could be inside and out. A wonderful role model. Full of life and sincerety. I've never forgotten the year in junior high taking dance from her. My aunt Dot some how began sewing costumes for recitals for Cheries students and Cherie would draw sketches of garments for her personally and my aunt who was self taught would accommodate her with beautiful clothing to wear. I took classes with childhood friends Patty and Wendy from Cherie in her basement just around the corner from where I lived in Des Moines. I'll never forget when the music came on in our dance classes Cheries toes would start tapping to the beat. I'm so sorry her life ended with such an illness. Loved her. Never forgot her.
