Memorial

Julie Kay was born on December 7, 1959, to Charles and Virginia Dougherty in Cedar Rapids, lowa. She graduated from Kennedy High School in 1978. She met her future husband, Leigh Alan Haug, and future step-daughter, Rebecca Mae Haug, in 1977 through her sister, Diane. They were married on August 2, 1980.

Julie held numerous jobs including Metzgers and Ardans but her final 30 years of employment were with Collins Credit Union - retiring as their internal auditor.

Julie enjoyed boating at Coralville, motorcycle riding with Leigh and traveling (whenever she could convince Leigh to agree), however, she was content in their beautiful rural Fairfax home. She especially enjoyed spending time on their deck overlooking farm fields, the tree line along the Prairie Creek and the abundant wildlife. Wonderful neighbors added joy to her life as well.

Julie Kay Haug, 62, of Fairfax, died after a brief illness on February 8, 2022.

Survivors include her husband, Leigh of Fairfax; step-daughter, Becky of Cedar Rapids; siblings, Diana (Dave) Nelson of Manchester, Cheryl (Dave) DeFord of Cedar Rapids; nieces and nephews, Damon, Jamison, Courtney, and Ben; numerous cousins, great nieces and nephews.
