Memorial

Virginia Lee Brown, 100, of Cedar Rapids passed away on December 15, 2022. No services to be held. Inurnment will be at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Virginia was born on November 9, 1922, in Highland Township, Tama County, Iowa. She was the daughter of William O. and Hazel M. (Beale) Booth. Virginia graduated from Tama High School. After high school, she worked for Northwestern Bell as a telephone operator. Virginia was united in marriage to John Joseph Brown on September 1, 1948, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Later on, Virginia worked at Armstrong’s in Cedar Rapids in the lingerie department, retiring in 1986. Before her marriage, Virginia was a singer in a big band. She was a loving mother and grandmother. As her daughters were growing up, she was a Campfire and Bluebird leader. Virginia also liked to go shopping.

Survivors include her daughters Barbara Lee (Ronald) Gardner of Cedar Rapids and Patricia Rae (James) Healy of Omaha, NE, Grandchildren:  Amy (Ben) Jordan, Brian Gardner, Great Grandchildren: Karsyn Gardner, Hayden Jordan, Dylan Gardner, Chandler Gardner, Oliver Jordan.

Preceding her in death were her parents, and two sisters Fran O’Hara and Helen Kacer.
