Lois Virginia (Yeager) Pugh, 96, died peacefully on August 24, 2022, at Cottage Grove Place, where she was a resident of 10 years. 

Her memorial service will be held October 1, 2022, at Cedar Memorial Chapel. Visitation at 10AM followed by service at 11AM.

Virginia was born June 26, 1926, in Marshalltown, IA, to Charles Weber and Lois (Johnson) Yeager. She grew up in Colo, IA, with her brothers Charles and Dean Yeager. She graduated from Iowa State College in Ames with a degree in Child Development. While attending Iowa State she met her husband, Eugene C Pugh. They married June 28, 1948, and enjoyed 64 years of marriage.

Virginia and Gene are the parents of five children: Linda Benson, Ronald (Charlotte) Pugh, Dana (Scott) Barton, Lisa Pugh, and Mark (Lisa) Pugh. They are grandparents to: Melissa (Adam) Reuvers, Daniel Benson, Kevin (Sarah) Pugh, Kristin (Olufemi) Coker, Eric (MaryAnn) Pugh, Chelsea (Austin) Brown, Thomas Barton, Corrin (Brock) Reeson, Elizabeth (Shaun) Bainbridge, and Katie (Jimmy) Smith. Great-grandchildren: Ben Reuvers; Wyatt, Nolan, and Eli Pugh; Sade Coker; Ava Mosley; Jackson, Oliver, and Madelyn Brown; Connor, Aidan, and Brigid McMannes; and Liam and Maisy Bainbridge.

Virginia taught preschool and was Director of St Paul’s Preschool for over 20 years. She was a pianist, an avid reader, a wonderful cook, and enjoyed traveling, camping, concerts, and theater productions. She belonged to Hesperian and Tuesday Study book clubs, PEO Chapter JT, and the UMW of St Paul’s United Methodist Church. Virginia and Gene were tireless supporters of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, where daughter Lisa received medical treatment for leukemia. They also helped organize a parent support group for parents who have experienced loss. 

Virginia is preceded in death by her parents, husband Eugene, son Ronald, and daughter Lisa; brothers Charles W Yeager and wife Glenadine; Dean J Yeager and wife Marilyn; brothers and sisters-in-law D Warren Pugh and wife Margaret; Eldon B Pugh and wife Margaret.

The family expresses sincere appreciation for the compassionate and loving care Virginia received at Cottage Grove Place and by Dr. Ann Soenen and St. Croix Hospice.
