Rowe Zehms

Departed on Aug 9, 2022

Our sympathies from the pharmacy staff at the Hy-Vee grocery store on Johnson Ave.

Mary and family, My heartfelt sympathies. May your father’s memory be a constant source of happiness and blessings.

My sympathy on the loss of Rowe. He was a wonderful, faithful husband to Joan and a true friend. He will be missed and fondly remembered by all at Methwick.

Rowe was a treasured and extremely close friend for more than 72 years. We stayed in close contact all those years. The conversations and experiences that we shared in high school were as valuable as those that we shared over the phone shortly before Rowe’s passing. We both had a passion for the best that Mother Nature had to offer---together we explored and fished and hunted in Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan, Arkansas, and Saskatchewan. We both loved to feast on fish and game, and we never went away hungry. The sound of Rowe yelling when he landed his first legal Muskie on a small isolated Wisconsin lake still rings in my ears. We often camped, and fried fish over our campfire. Rowe never failed to ask for 2nd and 3rd helpings. In much later years we often reminisced over those wonderful days together, often with other close Iowa friends, and my sons. We were always planning ahead for the next outdoor adventure. I canoed with Rowe in Iowa, Wisconsin and Michigan, and his canoeing trips in Canada with family were truly cherished. He took delight in the family trailering days. He took great pride in his service in the Army Reserves, and in his work in the security field. We were close to Joan for all of their married life, and Rowe’s caring love was always evident, as was his love for their entire family, including his parents and his late brother John. Rowe served God in many ways, and I’m sure there was great rejoicing when he walked through the Pearly Gates. A million more Rowe adventures I have on the tip of my tongue, but I’ll save them for now. I salute you, my brother for a life well-done. Rich
