At our first frame shop in Cedar Rapids, The Frame, we loved to see the delicate, beautiful needleworks created by Robert and Esther. One time when Robert came to pick up a stitchery we had framed, he said, "You have framed it backwards." We were mortified, apologetic, and, of course, offered to re-frame his piece. He said very kindly, "You have given me the best compliment that a stitcher could receive." We now understood that the backs of his needlework were as beautiful and carefully completed as the front. It was always a pleasure to frame his intricate and amazing pieces. He was a kind, soft-spoken, and very talented man.

Kenny and Keith: We were very sorry to learn of the passing of your dad. I worked with Bob at Collins Radio as a fellow electronics technician for 30 0r 40 years. He was always pleasant to work with and never an unkind word about anyone. He was always proud to play his trumpet in the concerts with the Marion city band at the park. Kenny and Keith, it seems ages ago that I had you kids in Boy Scouts at Starry School in Marion. May God be with your dad and your families at this time. Denny and Donna Stainbrook

Robert, Esther, Kenny, Keith and Kevin were our neighbors for the last 60 plus years. Not only were those three boys my great friends growing up but Esther was my "den mother" in cub scouts and a family I could count on for anything. Robert and my father have been able to swap stories over the past several years as they were both without there spouses to reflect upon. I'm thankful for the opportunity over those past couple of years to enjoy a conversation on occasion with Robert in his yard as I would make my way back to dad's place. He will be greatly missed from my dads occasional conversations outside. May he rest in peace...
