Memorial

Delbert H. “Hubie” Ebsen, 91, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Monday, September 20, 2021, at Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha, Iowa. A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories Stateroom. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 23, 2021, at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Burial will follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. 

Delbert was born August 12, 1930, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Hubert and Gladys (Hartson) Ebsen. After he graduated from high school, he enlisted into the United States Army and served during the Korean Conflict. When he returned home, he married the love of his life Oletha Courson, September 15, 1952, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Delbert gave many years of service to Cryovac. Delbert and Oletha moved to Georgia for several years after their retirement, returning to Iowa in 2008.  

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, dancing, training and field trialing dogs, going to the casino, and spending time with his family. He cherished the time spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

Those left to cherish his memory are his children Stephen (Laurie) Ebsen and Kathy (Dave) Markham; grandchildren Tony and Shay Ebsen, Jessica (Chris) Blake, Chris (Jen) Markham, Sarah Markham; great grandchildren Mackenzie and Alexandra Blake, and Makayla Markham. 

Preceding him in death are his loving wife, his parents, and his three sisters.
