Memorial

Dean Hatfield, 83, of Cedar Rapids, died peacefully in his home surrounded by family on October 9, 2021. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, October 14, 2021, at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Rev. Dr. Mary Beth Hartenstein of Hope United Church of Christ will officiate. Friends may visit with the family after 9:30 AM at the Chapel of Memories on Thursday. Inurnment with military honors will be held immediately following the services at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Shelly; his children Drew Hatfield and wife Connie, Ryan Hatfield and wife Summer, Regan Bloomquist and husband Mitch all of Cedar Rapids; his grandchildren, Rylee Hatfield, Sam Bloomquist, Max Bloomquist, Cade Hatfield, and Cal Bloomquist; his sister-in-law, Kathy Goldsberry; as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rene and Bill Lint, and his sister Sandra Nelson.

Raymond Dean Hatfield was born February 2, 1938, in Iowa City and graduated from Atkins High School. He served his country honorably in the United States Army as a paratrooper. Dean was united in marriage to Shelly K. Procok on August 2, 1975, in Shueyville, Iowa and celebrated 46 years of marriage this year. Dean was a Sales Representative for Hillshire Farm/Sara Lee for many years and was the sales leader for the company for multiple years. He also had worked for Wilsons in Cedar Rapids. He enjoyed playing golf and fishing, and watching the Hawkeyes, Packers, and Yankees. Dean will be remembered for being a warrior for many years as he battled health challenges while continuing to care for his family. Above all, Dean loved his family and enjoyed spending time with and attending the events that his children and grandchildren were part of.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Dean’s honor may be directed to the family for future distribution to charities close to Dean’s heart.
