Violet Louise McDonald, 93, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Thursday November 25, 2021, in the peacefulness of her home. Visitation will be held on Friday December 3, 2021, at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.  Services are private to family members.  Burial will be at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel is entrusted with the arrangements.

Violet was born December 8, 1927, in Stanwood, Iowa to Charles and Gladys (Klinkhammer) Yeater. She was raised in Morely, Iowa and moved to Cedar Rapids when she was 18, where she met and married Earl R. McDonald on September 28, 1946.  Violet worked for Wilson’s Meat Packing, Cryovac and the Cedar Rapids Country Club.  Violet was a member of Asbury Methodist Church. She enjoyed socializing with friends & family, listening to music, playing cards, crocheting, ceramics, dancing;  and in recent years,  weekly car rides around eastern Iowa with her son; She had a quick wit, infectious laugh and a beautiful smile that could light up a room.

Violet was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Earl, her brothers, Edward, Malvin, and Ron Yeater; and Sisters; Althea Kuzela, Evelyn Port; and her granddaughter Lisa.

Survivors include her son Ron (Carole) McDonald of Cedar Rapids, her grandchildren, Rhonda (Marc) McDonald of Phoenix, AZ, Tracy (Carl) Barton of Cedar Rapids, Kelly (Joanna) Anderson of Parker, CO.  Great grandchildren Josh (Andrea) Barton of Solon, IA, Grant Barton of London, England, Nick Barton of Cedar Rapids, her brother, Marvin Yeater of Marion, Iowa, a brother-in-law, Leonard Kuzela of Marion, Iowa, and many nieces and nephews.
