Sharon Kay Ullrick was called home on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at 1:45 AM with her son holding her hand.  

She was born to Wanda & Virgil Ullrick on June 9, 1943, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was a graduate of Jefferson High School in 1961. 

She was a dedicated worker having been employed by E. Cohn & Sons, Collins Radio, Russo’s Restaurant and retired in 2005 as a 30-year veteran of the CRCSD.

She belonged to First Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids and while there was a Sunday School teacher and choir mother.  Additionally, she was a Den Mother for her son’s Cub Scout Troop.  She was an avid crossword puzzler, an advocate for the abolition of ‘puppy mills,’ a lifelong horse lover & horse racing fan and a voice for voiceless pets needing to be adopted into loving homes.  

Her special pets kept her agile.  Her dogs Tula and Oliver + her 1-year-old cat Ridgeway. As late as 2017 she loved working out and drinking coffee with her gym friends ‘the girls:’ Val, Kathy, Jeri, and Ann. However, what she valued most was spending time with her only son, Eric.

Sharon is preceded in passing by her great-grandparents Phoebe & Charles, beloved mother, her father, her Aunt Mildred, her uncles Harold & Gib & her cousin Trudie. Her very special pets Lucy, ET, Zoey & Sam.  

She is survived by her son Eric, her half-brother Steve, her half-sister Sue and her cousins Terry, Linda & Ashley.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, December 3, 2021, at 11:00 AM at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Private inurnment will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 2, 2021, from 4 – 7 PM at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. The family respectfully requests those attending the visitation and service to please wear a face mask.
