Dolores Meier, Age 91, died peacefully in her home on Friday, November 12, 2021 surrounded by her loving family.

Dolores was born on October 30, 1930 in Cedar Rapids, IA. Her parents, the late Dell W. and Agnes Ann (Erickson) Farrens lived and farmed in Toddville, IA. Her family moved to Iowa City, Iowa for several years. Later, they moved to Ponte Verda, Florida. In her late teens they returned to Iowa, and she graduated from Toddville High School in 1948. She married Allen J. Meier in March, 1952.

Dolores worked at Sanfords in Cedar Rapids, Farrens Tree Surgery in Jacksonville, Florida, Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids, and Killian’s Department Store in Cedar Rapids. Dolores was an accomplished seamstress and would construct clothing for display in the Sewing/Fabric Department of Killian’s for many years. She had wonderful gardens, and was a fantastic cook. Dolores had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to laugh. In her younger years, she enjoyed to roller skate, bowl, play cards, and go dancing. She enjoyed traveling and visited most of the United States, as well as travels to Canada, Mexico, Panama, Puerto Rico, the Bahamas, and abroad to China.

Surviving are her husband Allen, and six children; Robert (Connie) Meier of Cedar Rapids, Ronald Meier of Cedar Rapids, Rodney Meier of Cedar Rapids, Denise (Rodney) Meier-Anderberg of Grand Mound, Deborah (John) Meier-Casper of Redmond, Washington, and Pamela Meier of Cedar Rapids. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.

Preceding Dolores in death were her parents, Dell and Agnes, an infant daughter, Tamera Ann Meier, and a grandson, Josh Meier.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home on Friday, November 19 from 4- 7 PM. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, November 20 at 11 AM with the Pastor and daughter, Denise Meier-Anderberg presiding. A livestream of the service will be available on the Cedar Memorial website under, Dolores obituary under the video tab starting on Saturday, November 20 at 11 AM. A luncheon to follow the interment will be held at the Cedar Memorial Family Center. Her sons and sons-in-law and some grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers.
