Memorial

Israel Lagunas Perez, 8-month-old son of Rogelio and Maria Lagunas, died on Thursday, June 10, 2021, at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital after a courageous battel with leukemia. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, June 17, 2021, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.   Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, June 18, 2021, at Immaculate Conception Catholic in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  Private family entombment at the Cedar Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Israel is survived by his loving parents, his three sisters; Jocelin, Pilar, and Genesis Lagunas Perez; god-mother, Larrisa Alire; god-father, Raymond Wright; uncles, Luis Lagunas and Susana Enriquez, and Sergio Lagunas and Rosy Ortegon; and many loving extended family members and friends.  

Israel was born on September 15, 2020, and even though he was only here for a little time, Israel brought so much happiness and joy into his parent’s lives. They are so proud of him and feel blessed to be his parents. He will never be forgotten and will always be in the hearts of his family and loved ones.

The family would like to thank all the staff, nurses, and Dr. David Dickens in the Pediatric Oncology Department at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital for all the care and love they gave to Israel. 

A very special thank you to the many family and friends who provided support to the family during this difficult time.
