Thomas (Tom) John Lindley, 58, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly at his home Saturday, July 17th, 2021.

Tom was born in Cedar Rapids, IA on August 21st, 1962, to John and Julia Lindley.  He attended and graduated Kennedy high school with the class of 1981.  He then attended PHCC Eastern Iowa where he graduated top of his class for his apprenticeship.

After graduation Tom continued to work for Best Plumbing.  He had also been employed through Iowa Glass and Merta Concrete.  He later went on to receive his masters and journeyman license.  Tom also owned and operated his own business for 20 years, TJ Lindley Construction.

August 10th, 1985, Tom married his wife Teresa Lindley (Warthen).

Tom had a passion for all things construction and plumbing related.  He was the first person anyone would call when something went wrong or needed an extra hand.  If you knew Tom, you knew he was never just sitting around. Tom always loved to be busy and was always working on something.  When Tom wasn’t working, he had enjoyed hunting and fishing, although as years went by, he never had much free time to enjoy it.  However, when not working, you could find Tom spending time with his family and enjoying an ice-cold Budweiser or Corona.

Most recently, on March 28th, 2021, Tom was promoted to being a first-time grandpa, followed by a second grandbaby on March 29th, 2021. Tom’s biggest joys were those grandbabies, Kennedi Rose Lindley, daughter of Nate and Crystal Lindley, and Kayne River Lindley, son of Jaydon Lindley.

Survivors include his wife, Teresa Lindley (Warthen) of Cedar Rapids; son, Nathan (Crystal) Lindley and granddaughter Kennedi of Anamosa; son, Thomas Lindley of Coralville; daughter, Jaydon Lindley of Cedar Rapids; and his childhood best friend/brother, Eldon (Sue) Zacek North Carolina.  His mother-in-law and father-in-law David and Marie Waggoner; Cedar Rapids.  Steve and Shirley Warthen; Marshalltown, his sister-in-law Rani (Vicente) Javier, Washington IL; Step-sisters and brothers, Dawn Jellison, Cedar Rapids; Donna (Dustin) Paulos Marengo; Debbie Waggoner, Cedar Rapids; Doug Waggoner, Springville; Lisa Murty,  Chelsie; Jerry Brown (Diana),  Tama, Jesse (Val) Brown Toledo; Faith Veld (Dave) LeGrand, Several nieces and nephews. Tom will be preceded in death by his mother and father John & Julia Lindley, his uncle Thomas Long, and maternal and paternal grandparents.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
