James “Jim” Joseph Walderbach, Age 88, of Cedar Rapids, IA, passed away at the Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha surrounded by his loving family.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 14 from 6 to 8 PM at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.  As mandated by proclamation, social distancing must be practiced which requires a limited number of people to be allowed into the visitation at one time. The use of facemasks or shields are required. A service will be held at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories on Thursday, April 15 at 11 AM, with Terry Van-Wyk officiating. Jim was born on June 11, 1932 in Anamosa, Iowa. He is the son of the late William and Teresa (Fluckiger) Walderbach. On February 26, 1971, Jim married Donna Walters in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. James was a Veteran in the US Army during the Korean War. Jim worked at Square D for many years as a spray painter. Jim enjoyed collecting Hot Wheel Cars and also attending Hot Wheel races. Jim was an avid fan of the outdoors. Jim loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren so much so that they gave Jim a special nickname, “Great-Grandpa Hot Wheels”. Jim devoted a lot of time to the Boy Scouts while his children were a part of the troop.

Those left to cherish Jim’s memory are his wife Donna; his children, Charles “Chuck” Walderbach of TX., Mary Shriver, of TX., Debra Pazour, Kurt Walderbach, Craig Walters, of IA, and Joseph (Ramona) Walters of NC; granddaughter, Samantha Schultz; nephews, Ray, John, and Dewayne; his partner-in-crime, Aries the dog; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, sons, Jesse Walters and William Walderbach, as well as a daughter, Arlene Walderbach.
