Michael A. England, 21, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Saturday, November 14, 2020. A private visitation will be held at the Cedar Memorial Chapel Stateroom. Please contact the family if you wish to attend the visitation. A private funeral service will take place at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. As mandated by proclamation, social distancing must be practiced which requires a limited number of people to be allowed into the visitation at one time. The use of facemasks is required.
Michael, known to family and friends as Mike, was born on August 5, 1999 in Newton, Iowa the son of Brent and Dianna (Milner) England. Mike was known for his quick wit and exceptional kindness. He graduated from Linn-Mar High School in 2017. At Linn-Mar he played trombone for numerous ensembles - including concert band, jazz band, and many more. Mike was also an All State trombonist and attended many honor bands. His love of music extended into adulthood, and he had the talent to pick up nearly any instrument and play a tune within minutes. Mike is graduating from Iowa State University with a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was a member of Tau Beta Pi honors fraternity and acted as a lead designer for the Baja Club. Outside of his outstanding academics, Mike was an avid gamer, and enjoyed playing online with his friends and beating his sisters on the Gamecube and pool. One of his biggest points of pride was his red 2006 Mustang, to which he made a number of customizations (most recently an installation of Lambo doors).
Michael was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Dr. B.J. England. Survivors include his parents, Brent and Dianna England, sisters Madison and Megan England, maternal grandparents Dick and Karen Milner, and paternal grandmother Shirley England. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, and cousins Bob and Sam England (Adam, Missy, Bryant, and Melissa); Jeri Croxell (Tyler, Toni, and Kaci); Neise and Ken Larson (Tyler, Colin, Lizzie, Cam, and Hailey); Dr. Bill and Kathy England (Kelle, Tim, Laura, Phil, Will, and Lyn); Brian and Loretta England (Kady, Nick, and Luci); and Dr. Sheryl and Mark Beldin (Max). He is beloved and survived by many second cousins not listed here.
