Dorothy Marion Cormack, 94 of Marion, Iowa died on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha.  A private graveside service will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.  

Dorothy was born on September 18, 1926 in Clare, Iowa the daughter of Fred and Albie (Svec) Jones.  She graduated from Barnum High School with the class of 1944.  Dorothy moved to Chicago and was always proud of her work at Bendix Aviation during WWII setting altimeters for the aircraft. After the war, she moved to Cedar Rapids, met, and married Harold B. Merkl.  They later divorced.  Dorothy worked at Turner Microphone, Altorfer Machinery, Keller Hull Office Supply as the office manager in Cedar Rapids, the Jackson County Attorney and later retired as a Jackson County Deputy Auditor in Maquoketa, Iowa after many years.

On June 12th, 1971, she married David Cormack in Cedar Rapids and moved to their farm in rural Monmouth, Iowa. David passed away in 1990.  Dorothy enjoyed time with her family and had many lovely gatherings at her home. She was a wonderful cook and liked to bake.  She liked gardening, music, reading, watching sports, especially the Hawkeyes, and an occasional trip to the casino.

Dorothy 's greatest joy was her family and friends. She had such a very kind and caring heart. She was a fun and spunky little lady.  She will be dearly missed, and her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Deborah Conway; granddaughters, Lori Klocke, Christine White, Bridget (Shannon) Stanwix; great-grandson, Travis Duhme, Jr.; brother Donald (Noreen) Jones and her nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, a brother; Ralph Jones, sisters; Elizabeth Oleson and Pauline Mulherin, her youngest daughter; Cheryl (Cherrie) Trobough, grandson; Travis Duhme; her husband David Cormack and son-in-law; Steven White.
