Merrill Bernard Woosley, 83, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died February 7, 2020 at the Views of Marion of dementia. He was born to George and Dorothy (Bucknell) Woosley March 13, 1936 in Decorah, Iowa.

A visitation will be held on Thursday February 20, 2020, from 4-7 p.m., Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, 4200 1st Avenue NE, Cedar Rapids. Funeral 11:00 a.m. Friday February 21, 2020 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 2900 42nd Street NE, where a visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. 

He graduated from Decorah High School in 1954, and married Lavanda (Wolfs) of West Union, Iowa in 1972. He enjoyed motorcycling, traveling with Woosley Tours, and trout fishing.

Merrill retired from Rockwell Collins in 1992 and part-time worked as a courtesy shuttle driver for Pat McGrath Chevyland 6 years and an Amway Distributor. He traveled all 50 states and Europe. 

He is survived by his wife Lavanda of 47 years, sons, John (Melinda) of Kihei, Hawaii, Scott (Candie) of San Marcos, Texas, daughter, Bonita (Henry) Black of Rockford, Illinois and seven grandchildren, Curtis (Olga) Woosley of San Antonio, Texas, Amanda (Moses) Kai, Leander, Texas, Ryan Woosley, Austin, Texas, Richard  and Dennis Woosley of San Marcos, Texas, Jordan Black of Rockford, Illinois, Sarah Black of Chicago, Illinois, four great grandchildren, a brother, Warren (Suzanne) of Clayton, Wisconsin and a sister, Lori Kelly (Mike) of Greensboro, North Carolina.

He was preceded in death by parents, son, Kevin, brother, Ron, sisters, DiAnne Adkins, and Pamela Forman.

n Lieu of Flowers the family is accepting donations for a memorial tree to be planted.
