Joyce R Cathey, 85, of Davenport, passed away on Feb 23, 2020. Funeral services will be on Saturday, Feb 29 at 3:00 at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Entombment will follow at the adjacent Mausoleum.
Joyce was born Sept 21, 1934 in Fairfield, the daughter of Hugh and Margaret Rizor. She was especially proud of her Swedish ancestors, who had emigrated to America four generations earlier and were very active members of the local community.
She is survived by a son Cameron of Davenport and a daughter Candyce Copeland of Coralville. She is also survived by granddaughter Heather Hocutt and great granddaughter Lily Hocutt of Columbus, Nebraska. She was preceded in death by her husband.
Joyce lived in the Washington, DC area for almost 30 years, where she built a successful residential real estate career. There she interacted with many clients from all over the world. For many years, she enjoyed attending concert events at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington. She also enjoyed international travel and made multiple visits to Europe, the Holy Land, East Asia, and South America. She returned to Iowa in 2012.
A true highlight of her life was living to see her great granddaughter Lily, who was 4 years old at her passing. Fortunately she was able to see Lily one last time just shortly before her passing.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital of Memphis, Tenn.
