Don was born March 4, 1928 in Cedar Rapids, IA. After graduating from McKinley High School in Cedar Rapids, he joined the Navy in 1946 and served in World War II, the Korean War, and eight years in the Naval Reserve. He married Jacquelyn Joyce of Cedar Rapids in 1950, and eventually settled in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Don and Jackie were long-time members of St. Jude Catholic Church. He spent his career in the auto parts business in Cedar Rapids, IA, operating his own business most of those years, and making many friends and business relationships. He retired in 1998, and after the death of his loving wife Jackie in 2003, spent 11 years in Oroville, CA. He made many new friends and acquaintances, and truly enjoyed the moderate climate, and his volunteer activities including Bolt Tool Museum, PAWS Animal Welfare Society, and Habitat For Humanity. He moved to Clive, IA in 2015 to be closer to family, and once again formed many new friendships through men’s Catholic activities and senior groups. He was a parishioner of St. Boniface, and member of Men of Boniface and Knights of Columbus. He loved spending time with his family and friends, and his hobbies reading, stamp collecting, and making dousing instruments which were eventually shipped all over the world.

He is survived by his two sisters, Delores Blood, and Elaine Seifert; his daughters, Nancy Stephenson, and Karen (Michael) Lantz, and son Robert (Bernadette); five grandchildren, Todd (Ashlea) Lantz, David (Katie) Lantz, Wendy Stephenson, Kristi Stephenson, and Blake Anderson; four great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and beloved friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jackie, mother Irene, and several extended family members.
