Gene Herman Dirks, 80, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa passed away on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at Mercy Medical Center. Per his wishes he has been cremated.

Gene was born December 4, 1940 in Monticello, Iowa the son of Herman and Alice (Benedict) Dirks. At a young age, Gene and his family moved to Marion, Iowa and went to Marion Highschool, where he graduated with the class of 1959. After graduating he went to work for Collins Radio, it was there where he met the love of his life MaryAnn Kalusky. Gene and MaryAnn married November 4, 1961. He retired from Rockwell Collins after 40 years of service. 

He enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs and the Green Bay Packers. He loved the time he spent with his family.

He is survived by his daughters Lisa (K.C.) Munsell and Robyn Kisling; grandson Branden Kisling; sister-in-law Alice Kalusky; his cousins and many nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his wife MaryAnn, his parents, and his brother Gary.
