Memorial

Laurel Laschanzky Condon, 85, of Marion, Iowa passed away on November 13, 2019 at Oak View of Marion from complications of COPD and heart failure.  A visitation will be on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 from 4-7pm at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.  Memorial service will be on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at 11am at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories.

She is survived by her daughters Debra Walz (John) of Burlington, Iowa and Kathy Condon of Marion, Iowa.  Granddaughters Ellen Holmes of Wesley Chapel, Florida and Lauren Walz of Iowa City, Iowa and 2 beautiful great granddaughters, Everly and Isla Holmes.  She was proceeded in death by her husband Don Condon, parents John and Leola (Bugge) Laschanzky, 3 sisters, 1 brother and her dog Sam.

Laurel was born in Bennett, Iowa on October 18, 1934 and moved to Cedar Rapids following high school graduation where she met and married her husband, Don.

She worked for Quaker Oats, Collins Radio and Parker Midland Corp.  After retirement, she and her husband sold their home and traveled throughout the United States while living in their motor home, spending winters in Arizona.  They eventually bought a home in Arkansas where they lived for 4 years before returning to Cedar Rapids.  After her husband's death she moved to Summit Pointe Senior Living in Marion where she developed many friendships.  Laurel enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, playing Euchre and 500 and volunteering her time reading to children at Four Oaks. She will be greatly missed!

Memorial contributions can be made to Four Oaks of Cedar Rapids or Last Hope Animal Rescue of Cedar Rapids in Laurel’s name.  Special thanks to the staff at Summit Pointe, Mercy Hospice and Oak View of Marion for their compassionate care.
