James “Vernon” Van Note, 74, of Palo, died on Tuesday March 19, 2019 at Lantern Park Nursing Home in Coralville. Vernon was born March 12, 1945 in Cedar Rapids, the son of Glenn and Lillian (Millburn) Van Note. He was a smart, quiet, and humble man with a wide range of interests. He enjoyed reading, keeping up with various sports teams, listening to music and a good conversation with friends or family.
Survivors include his sons, Vaughn Van Note of Walnut Creek, California and Zachary Van Note of Albuquerque, New Mexico, along with their wives and children. Also surviving is brother Maurice Van Note of Palo. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside services: 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Palo Cemetery, Palo, Iowa. Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
