Departed on Mar 9, 2019

Carrie, Aggie and I were saddened to learn of your mother’s passing over the weekend. We know this is a difficult time for you and your family. You will be in our prayers.

The Spaights were neighbors for years. We always will remember Mrs. Spaight taking her walks around the neighborhood. She was always so friendly and always dressed to the Nines!! We knew that she worked at the Board of Education building--and always thought she probably was into the Arts. A great family with nice kids. And very sure that Bettie had a big say in their house, as it is one of a kind in the neighborhood. Our thoughts are with the family. Anne and Jack Pilling

I am so saddened to hear of Bettie’s passing. She was one of the kindest people I have ever known. Whether it was at a horse competition where she was cheering Sarah on, or a crafty event with her calligraphy it was a joy to run into her, get a hug and have a nice chat. My condolences to all of you. Rest in Peace sweet lady.

What a wonderful treasure it is to have known Bettie! I had the great pleasure of working with her on Follies for many years, she helped design my business logo and I still look at her framed calligraphy in my office each day. She was fun, funny, stylish, so very talented and just a great person to know! My warm wishes to her family, be well.

My condolences to the family. Bettie was special. and so accomplished. She has been missed since not able to be at Creative Artists meetings, but through the years she added joy there. A lovely lady. Noma Lucas

Bettie was a beautiful, kind, talented lady and everyone who knew her loved her, She lent her talent to the Cedar Rapids Symphony Follies for many years and when asked to help, she was always right there! As Producer for 13 years, I could always count on Bettie. She was very special. God Bless Bettie and the family of which she was so proud, Bette Eells

I'm so sorry for your loss. I hope you find comfort in knowing that your loved one is safe in the memory of God, who will remember every detail about her & bring her back again. Acts 24:15 You have my condolences.

Bettie was a beloved member of our PEO Chapter JT. I will always remember her lovely voice, gracious manner, and kindness toward all. She will be missed by all of us. God's peace be with her and her family.

The beauty of Bettie's artistic contributions, from designing drops for the Follies, to her very individual approach to each calligraphy challenge made her one of the most remarkable friends I have known. I am privileged to have memories in the form of her work. So sorry about your loss. Rachel Mills

It was my pleasure to work with Betty in the school district. Always a pleasant person who made many wonderful contributions. I celebrate her life. She made a difference. William C. Jacobson Retired educator.

Betty was my mentor and role model when I was in the Jefferson High School work study program (Cedar Rapids, class of ‘71). Working under her guidance in the art department at the Cedar Rapids Board of Education fed my love for art and design and helped solidify my own decision to become an illustrator. She had a kind heart and beautiful spirit. I will always hold a special place in my heart for her. My condolences to her daughters and family.
