Memorial

Willis Brewer, 77, passed away on June 5, 2019, at the Oldorf Hospice House  of Mercy in Hiawatha after a long battle with Dementia. He was born at home on October 27, 1941, in Fairbank, Iowa, and was raised by his father.

He attended Lamont High School and graduated in 1960. Willis lived in Independence most of his life.  He was married to Nancy Brewer, Independence, for 34 years.  Willis  worked for the Mental Health Institute for 32 years, first as a Psychiatric Aid and then in the Carpentry Department until he retired.  Willis enjoyed woodworking and home refinishing projects; along with his love of cars, motorcycles and music.

Willis is survived by his children, Lisa (Jay) Hawk of Marion, Cory (Jodi) Brewer of Independence, grandchildren Dawson and Kinzey Hawk, and his sisters, Faith Arthur and Bev Steggall. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Paul, Gerald, Kenny and Larry Brewer.
