Memorial

Sadie I. Ward, 82, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Monday, January 7, 2019 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.  Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 13, 2019, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.  Services will be held on Monday, January 14, 2019 at 10:30 AM at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories with Pastor Leoma Leigh-Williams officiating the services.  Burial will follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

Sadie Inez Ward was born on January 26, 1936 to Speed and Sadie (Johnson) Mathews in Memphis, Tennessee.  She was united in marriage to Ernest Ward, Sr. on October 17, 1951 in Memphis, Tennessee.  Sadie worked for Rockwell Collins for 25 years.  She enjoyed watching her shows on TV, taking walks, and most importantly spending time with her grandchildren and nephew, Richie.  Sadie traveled all over the world.  She loved her family dearly and will be forever missed.

Survivors include her children, Deborah (Kenneth) Reed and Brenda (John) Dawson both of Cedar Rapids; Denise (Steve) Loufek of Las Vegas; Dennis Ward of Cedar Rapids, Preston (Sandee) Ward of Perry, Chad (Erin) Adero of Elk Ridge, Maryland; her sisters, Vivian (Lathan) Wilkins of Memphis, TN; Maureen (Vernell) Kirk of Detroit, MI; 13 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Ernest Ward, Jr.; her parents, four brothers and four sisters.
