Ruth O. Wilson, of Swisher, died Saturday, February 2, 2019 at her home. Memorial Service: 11:00 am Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at Shueyville United Methodist Church. A visitation will be held from 4-7 pm Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Inurnment: Anderson Cemetery, Swisher, Iowa.
Ruth was born March 4, 1936, the daughter of William and Cora (Gjere) Christopherson, in Highlandville, Iowa. On August 4, 1956, she was married to James Wesley Wilson. Ruth was employed several places including: Wilson’s Packing House, Square D, Newport’s Garden Center, and bookkeeping for Wilson’s Rubbish Hauling. Her favorite job however, was being a stay at home mother and taking care of her family, especially watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ruth was very crafty and loved to make things for her family. She enjoyed doing puzzles, growing flowers, camping and feeding the birds.
Survivors include her three children, Dawn (Tom) Terrell, Jeff (Kris) Wilson, Andrea (Jim) Park; six grandchildren, Sonya (Matt Ironside) LaGrange, Samantha (Matt) Ternes, Andrew (Jessica) Wilson, Nicole (Mark) Svendesen, Eli Park, Gracie Park; fifteen great grandchildren; five sisters, Mary Sanderson, Thelma Brown, Grace (Ken) Johnson, Crystal Thayer, Arlene (Ron) Vavroch; two brothers-in-law; and three sisters-in-law.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents; and two sisters, Esther and Betty; and six brothers, Carmen, Ray, Wallace, Ivan, Frances, and Jerome.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family, to be given to Ruth’s favorite organizations.
