Memorial

Helen M. Popek, 94, of Cedar Rapids, died February 3, 2019.  She was born on February 16, 1924 in Cedar Rapids, to Charles and Catherine Seda.  A visitation will be held on February 11, 2019 at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 pm with a prayer vigil at 6:00 pm.  A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday February 12, at Immaculate Conception Church at 10:00 am, with burial to follow at St. Johns Cemetery.

Helen is survived by her brother Joseph (Sharon) Seda; nieces and nephew, Sue Fisher, Mary Kay Frary, Darla Glynn, and Dave Seda; great niece Morgan Fisher and great nephews Austin and Jacob Fisher.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Wencil; siblings Alice, Patricia (Richard Bousek), Charles (Irma); and sister-in-law Nelda Seda.

Helen married Wencil on June 10, 1947 in Cedar Rapids.  She was a secretary/receptionist and homemaker most of her life.  She served as the choir director at St Wenceslaus for some time as well.  Although Helen had no children of her own, she was a mother to many and grandmother to some.
