Blanche A. Homire, 91 of Hiawatha went home to be with the Lord Saturday February 2, 2019 at the Hiawatha Care Center. Funeral services at 3:00 PM on Thursday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. There will be a visitation on Thursday from 1:30 until service time in the Stateroom at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories.

Survivors include children Patsy (Robert) Brolling of San Antonio, Texas, Rodney (Donna) Homire of Mesquite, TX, Rhonda (Randy) Crouse of Cedar Rapids, Terri (Andy) Shifflett of Marion, Lori (Gary) Nelson of Phoenix, AZ, and son-in-law David Justice of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  Also surviving are 12 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years Lloyd Homire, a daughter Sherri Justice, one sister Elsie (Ed) Witting, a granddaughter Dawn and great grandson Nathan.

Blanche was born November 9, 1927 to Burdette and Floy Weisert.  She married Lloyd Homire in Mt. Auburn on September 15, 1946.  They farmed in Keystone area until 1960 then moved to Hiawatha.  She did bookkeeping for her husband’s business and raised 6 children.  

She loved baking pies, cookies, and kolaches.  She enjoyed having a strawberry patch and a flower garden.  Price is Right and Let’s Make a Deal was her favorite morning shows.

Blanche was a member of King of Kings Lutheran Church and knew Jesus.

She loved the staff at Hiawatha Care Center which was her home for the last 5 years.  The family would like to thank the staff and all those that cared for her.

May her smile and caring ways always be remembered by her family and those that knew her.
