John Michael Tedesco, 82, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Tuesday April 2, 2019 at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy surrounded by his family.  

A visitation will be held on Sunday April 7, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel. A vigil service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday. Funeral Mass will be on Monday April 8, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Jude Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids. Burial will be held at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery.  

John was born on October 27, 1936 to Michael and Georgia (Kabourek) Tedesco in Omaha, Nebraska. He married Kathryn Hanes on September 11, 1965 in Omaha, Nebraska. They lived in Cedar Rapids for over 50 years. John was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church. John was an active member of the Hawk A Model A Ford Club for several years, the Model A Ford Club of America (MAFCA), and Model A Restorers Club (MARC). John served the local club as President for two terms, Vice President for one term, and Fifth Director for two terms. He was also the chairperson of the club tools, even having made some of them. He kept a lot of Model A cars running while on tours and at the owner’s home.

John is survived by his wife, Kathryn, daughter, Teresa (Cory) Naughton of Fort Dodge, son, Michael Tedesco of Jesup; seven grandchildren including Micaela (Joe) Goodenbour, Tyler Tedesco, Rafferty Naughton, Cade Naughton, Johnathan Tedesco, and Milena Naughton; seven great-grandchildren including Aubree, Easton, Gunner, Kylie, Peyton, Brooklyn, and Hunter; sisters-in-law, Janice Tedesco, Donna (Gary) Ahlstrom; nieces, Maia Tedesco, Sherri (Chris) Haynes; and nephews, Joe (Becky) Tedesco and Steve (Shannon) Ahlstrom.  John was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Georgia; Kathryn’s parents, Donald and Marie Hanes, son, Douglas born asleep; and brother, Paul.

John will be missed by many club members, family and friends.
